London’s first Park Hyatt hotel opened up in a new luxury high-rise in Nine Elms in October 2024, together with some interesting restaurants and bars
The key one is a high-end Cantonese restaurant called Yú Gé, helmed by chef Eng Soon Yeo, who spent many years at Hakkasan and was most recently at MiMi Mei Fair, so it’s safe to say he knows his stuff.
Eat This
The main (but not the only) reason to come here is for the signature roast Peking duck – a glorious bronzed duck that is carved tableside. You are first given slithers of golden crisp skin to dip in a tiny bit of sugar, before being served beautiful slices of duck, together with fresh pancakes, hoisin sauce, cucumber and onion. It’s exceptional stuff. Then comes the traditional second serving for which you have a choice – stir-fried duck with ginger and spring onion, or stir-fry salt and pepper duck. We went for the former, together with vegetable fried rice and kai lan to get some greens.
Also great from the starters are the supreme dim sum selection, featuring prawn, scallop, and lobster dumplings, and the crispy citrus prawns. And across the wider menu there’s lots more to try including claypots, honey glazed sea bass, and double boiled soup.

Drink This
We were very happy to see a selection of Chinese wines available by the glass. Having tried a few on a recent trip to Hong Kong, we were excited to check out a few more. Best of the bunch was a Riesling from the Kanaan Winery in Ningxia – less successful was the Cab Sav / Merlot blend from the same maker. And decent enough was the Chardonnay from Magma Fei Tswei. Definitely well worth trying to expand your wine horizons. If you’re not drinking there’s a whole trolley of speciality teas that can be brewed for you.
Why Go
We’re like moths to a flame when a new Peking duck specialist opens in London so we needed very little excuse to head down to Yú Gé. The duck is very much worth a visit alone but there’s plenty more great dishes besides.
