It’s all well and good getting deliveries from your fave bars and restaurants to try and recreate the experience of being out at home, but one thing you can’t replicate is the smell of the places you’re missing. Until now that is because candlemakers Earl of East and creative studio Uncommon have teamed up for the Scents of Normality range.
There are three candles in the collection:
- The Cinema, with notes of “salt popcorn, foam banana and glistening hot dog…a fug of recirculated air… the allium tang of adolescent boredom”
- The Local, with “spilt beer, hair pomade and chip fat…a pungent base of varnished teak and sticky carpet”
- The Festival, with the “floral haze of cut grass, burned skin and sun-warmed cider…the merest shimmer of distant portaloo…an earthy bed of unwashed hair and dew-damp sleeping bag.”
Each candle costs £45 with proceeds going towards Hospitality Action, so you’ll also be doing a good deed by making your house smell like the pub. Shop their range here. And if for other smells of the movie theatre, vinyl stores or guitar shops be sure to check out LOTI faves Lola James Harper too.
