[URIS id=62458] was a strong focus on cut and fit for Pre-Fall 16, with many designers experimenting with more modern and directional shapes. The trapeze silhouette is contemporary through and through, not to mention totally chic as well. Voluminous outerwear was a popular choice, with See by Chloe, Sonia Rykiel and Fendi all showing capes, balancing the oversized, masculine shapes with short hemlines underneath. Vionnet went for tunic and trouser co-ords, ramping up the femininity with lightweight fabrics, and Marni also played with proportions by pairing a drop waist trapeze top with wide leg trousers. Loading volume on the bottom half sounds like a tricky wear, but with a simple colour palette and unfussy accessories, it’s knockout.HOW TO GET THE LOOK…
Unsurprisingly, this trend is ALL about shape and silhouette, and that actually makes it quite easy to weave into your personal style. Like pattern and print? That’s fine. Feel odd in anything other than monochrome? Not a problem, as long as you’re rocking that A-line. You can go full tilt with it and wear a trapeze top and wide leg trousers, but if that’s too overwhelming, balancing the volume with something skinny looks just as striking.
