Themasculine silhouette, with its clean and sharp lines, has never truly gone out of fashion, but it was an especially strong shape for pre-fall 16. Sometimes the classics are the best, and BOSS, Calvin Klein Collection and Osman all showed why with their pure, precise and minimalist interpretations of the suit.
Yet there were plenty of designers who were out to prove that a two-piece doesn’t have to be traditional. Balmain, Ellery, and Yigal Azrouel upped the femininity by adding flourishes like ruffles, flares and exposed flesh to their masculine looks. Christopher Kane went super contemporary, incorporating pleated organza, spray painted florals and sporty belts into his suits, and never ones to play it safe, Giambattista Valli and Moschino embraced print and colour to the extreme. Talk about cool and confident.[URIS id=62822]
HOW TO GET THE LOOK…
As the name would suggest, you want to stick to an androgynous silhouette with this trend, so skirts are out and trousers are in. Suiting up is the easiest, and probably most striking, way to wear this shape, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun or feel feminine…..bright co-ords and interesting belts show off your personality and enhance your form. And you definitely can’t go wrong with a great blazer and skinny jeans. Simple and classic.
