Maxi, midi, mini, hemlines seem to rise and fall every single season. What was the favourite for pre-fall 16? Super short. There’s no doubt that this is a fun and youthful silhouette, but it’s far from one dimensional. Roksanda kept things on the cute side with a sugary colour palette and lots of ankle socks; Alexander Wang went tough with studs and leather; and there was high glamour (what else?) at Balmain thanks to plenty of corsetry and embellishment. Designers also took influence from literally all over the world….Japan was a fountain of inspiration for Maison Kitsune and Carven incorporated subtle British references into their collection.
[URISP id=63572]HOW TO GET THE LOOK…
Short, short, short, that’s really all you have to remember to nail this trend. It doesn’t matter whether you go for a dress, skirt, or playsuit; if you prefer leather, jersey or lace; or even if you rock tights, socks or bare legs, just hike up that hemline.
