WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER

Lockdown may have forced restaurants to close but thanks to delivery services, new food brands are still springing up. Chicken seems to be a very popular option, with three new bird-focused concepts announced recently:

Royale – this is the new delivery brand from the Leroy team and it’s all about comfort food, aka rotisserie roast chicken. The chicken, seasoned with a blend of herbs and spices, comes in half and whole portions, with potatoes, mixed leaf salad, whipped cod’s roe, wild garlic pesto and roast chicken aioli available as sides.

Honest Chicken – as you may be able guess from the name, this is a chicken spin-off from Honest Burger, currently delivering from King’s Cross. There are four buns on the menu, all with sustainably-raised free-range Somerset birds – the Chicken, a buttermilk fried thigh with American cheese and chipotle mayo; the Buffalo, with smoked bacon, buffalo sauce and ranch mayo; the Thai, with , honey sriracha glaze, Thai slaw, crispy shallots; and the Grilled, a grilled breast with basil pesto, tomato and mustard mayo.

Sidechick – specialising in roast chicken, this is a new concept from the Patty & Bun team. You can get half or whole birds marinated in piri piri, lemon & herb butter or za’atar, honey, garlic & lemon, with the likes of crispy potatoes and smokey aubergine with labneh on the side. Sidechick is launching in East London with plans for a Soho pop-up in the works.
