La Pesa, which started out in Varazze, Italy, landed in Shoreditch last November with a menu of modern European dishes and plenty of wine. The all-day coffee shop, wine bar and restaurant serves as a spot for breakfast lunch and dinner, with an offering that ranges from speciality coffees and pastries to cocktails and small plates.

The food menu draws from a mix of inspirations – mainly French, Italian and Spanish cuisines – and is dictated by seasonal availability. For lunch and dinner, expect the likes of:

  • Flamed scallops, seaweed, radish and mole sauce
  • Argentine tartare, Clarence yolk, sundried tomatoes and capers
  • Spinach and ricotta tortelli with cultured butter and fried sage
  • Winter citrus salad with Piedmont hazelnuts and pecorino Toscano
  • Octopus alla Catalana

This year, La Pesa plans on hosting as many guest chefs as possible. For their first residency, they’ll be joined in the kitchen by Julio Lopez (previously of Lima and Street XO) who’ll be cooking up a mostly Italian menu for a couple of weeks. And the schedule is filling up, with the likes of Burro & Salvia, Naz Hassan and Olivia Cavalli among those set to make an appearance. The Rivington Street location is walk-in only, so if you fancy some natural wine and seasonal sharing plates after work, you might wanna get there early.
