It seems London can never have enough wine bars and bottleshops – first it was Hackney Coterie and now another new one is opening in town this summer, not far from Weino BIB, Newcomer Wines and Slurp. Hector’s, run by former Hill & Szrok partner Jimmy Stephenson and his wife actor Anna Shaffer (along with the backing of current Hill & Szrok owner Luca Mathiszig-Lee), is taking inspo from the bars of Paris, San Sebastian and Lisbon, and bringing those European vibes to De Beauvoir.
During the day it’ll run as a coffee shop, serving pastries and Climpson’s brews, and a bottleshop (this part is already open) stocked with a range of classic and natty wines. In the evenings (from Thurs – Sun), it’ll flip into a wine bar with vino available by the glass and bottle, alongside small plates like Cantabrian anchovies in olive oil, courgette carpaccio with fresh cheese, tins of sardines on toast, pate-en-croute and bocadillos like tortilla with red peppers and jamon con tomate, with guest chefs coming in to cook too. And as well as al fresco seating, there’ll be a back room for wine tastings and private dining, so wherever you wanna have your wine Hector’s has you covered.
Stay in the loop…
