The restaurant’s slushy series is back for 2024
On a hot day, nothing hits quite like an ice-cold slushy – nothing except a boozy slushy that is – and Stevie Parle and Pastaio are obliging this summer with the return of their slushy series. This year the Carnaby restaurant is teaming up with four of Rome’s most exciting bars for four aperitivo-inspired slushy specials, hitting the menu from June to September.
The series kicks off on 1st June with the Garibaldi Riviera Slushy, a Campari, orange, tomato cordial and strawberry purée combo inspired by the classic Italian cocktail, from Jerry Thomas Bar Room, the little sister to the famous Jerry Thomas Speakeasy. That’ll be followed by the Zampano’s Flying Circus Slushy from late-night bar Freni e Frizioni in July, a fruity take on a Negroni made from vodka, Amaro Santoni, red vermouth, strawberry, coconut and salted candy floss.
In August, a Guava Margarita Slushy from La Punta Expendio de Agave will hit the menu, with the series finishing in September with the Hattori Hanzo Slushy from Smile Bar, known for using fruit wines made from produce that would have otherwise been binned. Its Italian–Japanese serve for Pastaio features sake, yuzu peel, herbal vermouth, Campari and palo santo.
