Is brunch really brunch if it’s not bottomless? If your answer to that is no, then we have something for you. Every Saturday, Apothecary East is serving up an umami-packed menu of sushi, gyoza, snacks and more to be paired with bottomless highballs. The izakaya-inspired Shoreditch spot takes its cues from the traditional and informal bars of Japan, as well as their tradition of serving up Haibōru cocktails – so this menu is no exception.
Each table will start with sushi rolls to share, including the ‘yasai vegetable avo’ (with cucumber, mange tout, chives & teriyaki), ‘spicy salmon salmon’ (avocado, cucumber, spicy miso & sesame) and ‘chirashi lucky’ (with the chef’s fish of selection, avocado, spicy mayo, chives & teriyaki). As for the rest of the menu, you’ll get to choose from the likes of:
- Chicken gyoza with sweet whisky or vinegar dipping sauce
- Kuro sesame cauliflower
- Sesame corn on the cob
- Karaage fried chicken
- Prawn tempura
- Kimchi fried rice
As for drinks, expect three highball options: ‘Sakura Hai’ (with Maker’s Mark bourbon, cerise liqueur, blossom bitters & soda), ‘Yuzu Gin-Gin’ (with Kiyoko craft yuzu infusion, East London Gin, fresh lemon & ginger beer) and ‘Violet Spring’ (with Ginjo sake, esprit de figures, crème de violette, fresh lime & soda). But if you fancy something else, opt for free-flowing bubbly or Bloody Marys. CHEERS.
