We love London but we’re also big fans of a countryside escape every now and then, and the Cotswolds always hits the spot. The Bower House is a restaurant with rooms in the heart of historic market town Shipston-on-Stour, just a 20-minute drive away from Stratford-upon-Avon, and it makes for a great foodie break.
Head Chef Leo Kattou leads the kitchen and makes excellent use of the network of heritage producers, growers and artisans on The Bower House’s doorstep. He uses the best seasonal ingredients for his French and Mediterranean-inflected menu, which features dishes like scallop ravioli with curried lobster sauce; beef carpaccio with anchovy, shallot and parsley; Yorkshire venison with beetroot and hen of the wood; market fish with kohlrabi, apple and almond; 74% chocolate mousse with poached pear and ginger ice cream; and apple crumble soufflé with vanilla ice cream. That’s all paired with a wine list mixing established producers and smaller vineyards, which has been developed in partnership with The Stroud Wine Company and Sheldon’s of Shipston.
Luckily, you don’t have too far to go after a big feast as The Bower House is also home to five luxurious, individually decorated bedrooms (plus a family suite) each featuring Hypnos mattresses, Egyptian cotton sheets and ensuite bathrooms.

The prize is not valid on Saturdays, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, the festive period, or UK bank holidays, is non-transferable, and has no cash alternative.
Transport to and from The Bower House is not included.
