Pieman Willy has been killing it this year after setting up his pie delivery in the first lockdown when he was furloughed from Brat. His pies sell out super fast and we can vouch they are banging and now he’s teaming up with cult restaurant Black Axe Mangal to create the pie to end all pies. The Black Axe Mangal x Willy’s Pies half-time pie is a take on the classic football stadium half time snack and a twist on the OG Black Axe Mangal dish: the Bakken Special. The pie is packed with smoked ox cheeks from butcher HG Walter, braised peppers, chickpeas and onions bound together with TABASCO® Chipotle Sauce and finished with a bone marrow centre all encased in a Willy’s Pies suet crust. Safe to say this pie is packin’.
Available from Willy’s website (click the link – googling this is not advisable) and independent delivery platform Big Night, each pie kit also comes with an (off)side of TABASCO® Sauce spiced pickled red cabbage + sumac onions and a pot of yoghurt, plus a football scarf. Orders kick off Monday 7th at 9am and if you want to score one we’d recommend getting in there fast to tackle the queues. if you miss the first fixture, there will be more kits released on Monday 14th December and Monday 11th January.
