WHAT’S NEXT? FIGHTING FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS IN AFGHANISTAN

This International Women’s Day, Second Home will host an evening of talks, live performances, poetry and food to raise funds and shine a light on the experiences of Afghan refugees who are campaigning against the injustices waged by the Taliban. The event has been brought together in collaboration with the Rahela Trust, a charity that supports marginalised Afghan women and calls for people to continue fighting for their freedom. A panel discussion will see Afghan women from all walks of life discuss women’s rights, including Ariana Abawe (of Ariana Magazine), Rahela Sidiqi (founder of the Rahela Trust), blind Afghan disability rights activist Benafsha Yaqboobi and her husband Mahdi Salami, footballer Sariah Nawrozi Mohseni and former Afghan Judge Marzia Barbarkhail. Tickets are £12 and all money raised will go towards supporting the work of the Rahela Trust.
