peeps at Walk.Eat.Talk.Eat have relaunched their gin tasting tours and given that gin is still having it’s moment we went along to join one…

Our guide for the afternoon was Walk.Eat.Talk.Eat owner Charli who tells us she rarely does the same tour twice, customising each one for the members of the group, the time of year and what is happening in the area. Which is how we find ourselves kicking off the tour tucking into a Duffin (the Beas of Bloomsbury combo of a doughnut and muffin) whilst sipping on a hot gin punch in Bleeding Heart Yard in Farringdon.

After licking the sugar off our fingers, we head to J&A for a festive ham sandwich paired with a Slipsmith Sloe gin and tonic. Charli gives us a bit of an overview of the history of gin in London before we head to the Dovetail to get stuck into genervers, a Belgian fruit gin, and try to resist the urge to stick our fingers into the chocolate fondue (it doesn’t count if no one saw, right?)

Our sweet tooth well and truly satisfied, it’s on to Zetter Townhouse for a Flintlock (a combination of Beefeater 24 gin, gunpowder and tea tincture, dandelion & burdock bitters combined with Fernet Branca) that’s bound to put hairs on your chest. Our last stop is Giant Robot where Crostini plates are gobbled up whilst we play some Negroni Tic-Tac Toe (with a choice of Bombay Sapphire, Oxley or Adnams Copperhouse) and try to outdo each other with our new found gin wisdom.

Charli’s wealth of knowledge about the city means that even the most seasoned Londoner will discover some new favourite haunts to show off to their trendy mates…guaranteed to capture your imaGINation. See what we did there?
