W Retreat Koh Samui is well and truly open. The website is calling it “an island within an island and a haven from the everyday. An epitome of a tropical retreat and resplendent with warm charm, it awakens at night and ignites the nocturnal.” It sounds good to us!

With 75 beach front villas each with their own private pool, daybeds and outdoor showers the resort is really raising the bar for hotel accommodation on the Thai island. Inside the rooms feature a Yamaha sound system, 46-inch plasma screen TV, wine refrigerator, and the signature W bed. Could this get an better, seriously?

The cheapest rate we found online was about 18,000 baht which works out about 400 quid…..yes that’s per night! We suppose it’s just like the old saying goes “You get what you pay for”
