Casual Rice has been teaming up with Tracks, a bar in Forest Gate, for the past couple of months to serve up a menu of delicious Vietnamese dishes every Sunday and Monday – and this weekend will be the last of the residency. Headed up by chef Xuan Gardiner, Casual Rice’s food is inspired by her remarkable childhood story, the food of the four countries in which she’d already lived by the age of 14 (Vietnam, China, Scotland and England) and the Japanese techniques she learned during her time working in a sushi restaurant.
Expect a menu of Asian bar snacks that’ll include the likes of fried seabass with soy, ginger, chilli & spring onion dressing; crispy roast pork belly & spicy fried tofu (Gardiner’s dad’s recipe); and pork & prawn or vegan Vietnamese spring rolls. And there’ll be drinks too, provided by Tracks. If that’s got you feeling hungry, head to E7 this Sunday or Monday to try the menu for yourself.
