Jean Baby” is the new cut from Southend four piece, Velvet Morning. For a band in it’s infancy this is an assured debut with an atmospheric, reverb soaked aesthetic. The narcotic tinged bending arpeggios intertwine with vocalist, Samuel Jones’ psych-rock drawl coupled with a classic backbeat holding the fractal elegance together. It’s 4am music, where the doors of perception have been kicked in…completely.

From an influence perspective, you can hear classic Madchester and even a sprinkling of Jesus and The Mary Chain however it’s fresh, direct and at just under three minutes perfect for the radio. Taken from their “Velvet Moon” EP, this is an excellent slice of kaleidoscopic elegance, which leaves us looking forward to their debut LP and subsequent touring.
