UZBEK RESTAURANT OSHPAZ IS OPENING A PERMANENT SPOT ON REGENT STREET

After street food success OshPaz is moving up to bricks-and-mortar

Muzaffar Sadykov began dishing up Uzbek food in London with OshPaz after he noticed a lack of Central Asian food in the city, and after finding success on the street food scene with KERB, he graduated to a spot inside Seven Dials Market as well as having a presence at Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant & Castle.

Now he’s stepping things up again, opening a permanent restaurant on Regent Street that’ll offer grab-and-go food for breakfast and lunch, switching to eat-in service (with room for 20) in the evenings. The menu will include OshPaz’s signature plov, a slow-cooked rice pilaf that’s traditional in Uzbekistan, which Muzaffar serves with chicken or lamb, as well as other dishes inspired by the flavours of the Silk Road, like:

  • lamb and chicken shashlik kebabs served with homemade pitta, salad and homemade chilli sauce
  • lagman, traditional hand-pulled noodles either pan-fried or served in a broth, with chicken, lamb or veg
  • meat and veg steamed dumplings (made to his mother’s recipe) served with a carrot salad, sour cream dip and chilli oil

With Kink(all)y bringing Georgian dumplings to Fitzrovia, could this be the start of a new dumpling wave?
