The OG Milk Beach site is becoming Bar Blondie
Elliot Milne may have closed the original Milk Beach location on Lonsdale Road but he’s not letting the site go, instead teaming up with sommelier Alexandra Price and flipping it into a wine bar. Where Milk Beach was Aussie, Bar Blondie will draw influence from southern European wine bar culture.
Alex’s 160-bin list will feature bottles from around the world, a mix of old world estates and new indie producers, which’ll be complemented by an Italian and southern French menu of bar snacks, small plates, fresh pasta and sharing grill dishes.
More than just a place to eat and drink, Elliot and Alex are wanting Bar Blondie to be a creative, cultural and community hub, which’ll run a programme of music, DJ sets, chess nights, guest speaker nights, wine tastings and more. And with interiors that mix mid-century modern with country & western, it’s set to look the part too.
Speaking about the opening, Elliot Milne said: “I’m excited to be working with Alex, she is not only a thought-leader in the London wine community with a real talent for writing beautiful and distinctive wine lists, she’s also a writer herself and the perfect person to embody the cultural philosophy of the concept. As a Queen’s Park local I want to create a central ‘living room’ for the community – a place to bring people together over great food and wine; a place to experience different cultural events and meet new people. Lonsdale Road is a unique hub of restaurants, breweries, designers, co-working spaces and other creative businesses; it’s the perfect place to bridge the gap between East London wine bar creativity and energy, and West London sophistication and comfort.”
