Ukrainian chef, ambassador of Ukrainian food and TV presenter Yurii Kovryzhenko, who has been raising money for relief efforts during the war by hosting dinners with the likes of Jason Atherton, Jamie Oliver and Tom Sellers, is opening a restaurant in Chelsea that will employ Ukrainian refugees. Mriya, meaning ‘dream’, is opening on Brompton Road in July and the 37 cover spot will serve his take on classic Ukrainian dishes like borsch and chicken Kyiv as well as plates like zucchini pancakes & smoked trout and vinaigrette with strawberries on green pea cream & crayfish necks.
Mriya will have its own refrigerating room where Yurii will ferment vegetables, a key part of Ukrainian cooking, and the bar will feature Dima’s Vodka across a special martini list, vodka infusions and a vodka and food pairing option, to highlight the importance of vodka in Ukrainian culture. So if you’re looking to learn more about Ukrainian food, Mriya is gonna be the place for you.
