New Punjab Club and Ho Lee Fook will be in residence at Carousel for 10 days each this summer
Rotating residency spot Carousel on Charlotte Street will be hosting some very exciting guests in July and August, as leading restaurant group Black Sheep will be bringing two of its most successful spots to London. With more than 35 concepts across Hong Kong, Black Sheep is undoubtedly a key player in the HK restaurant scene, and they’ve also announced that they’ll be launching their first UK site following this summer’s residencies.
Things will kick off in July (17th – 26th July), when the chefs behind New Punjab Club will be in the Carousel kitchen with a menu inspired by the flavours of post-colonial Pakistan and India. Among the items on the menu will be two of the restaurant’s defining dishes: the Masalewali Chaanp (a tandoor-prepared lamb chop with ember-roasted onion) and the Tandoori Machli (a seasonal catch with burnt leeks, a samphire ajika and house-made dill raita).
After that, it’ll be Ho Lee Fook’s turn until August (27th July – 5th August). The HK cult favourite is centred around Cantonese cuisine and you can expect to see the restaurant’s signature dishes on the pop-up menu, including steamed live razor clams, glass noodles, aged garlic, soy sauce & spring onion and French toast with molten salted egg yolk, smoked maple syrup, toasted coconut & coconut sorbet.
And that’s just an appetiser, as the restaurant group has revealed that they’ll be opening their UK debut in 2024, a concept that’ll be inspired either by New Punjab Club or Ho Lee Fook – or, something entirely new. More info on that as we get it; big things are coming.
