Twenty8 Nomad Review | “A Glow Up and New Menu for the NoMad London”

The restaurant at the NoMad hotel in Covent Garden has had a refurb and has now relaunched as Twenty8 NoMad

Given that the original was designed by Roman and Williams, one of the most renowned (and expensive) hospitality designers in the world, it was maybe a little soon for a refresh, but new owners Hilton clearly wanted to see a few changes. Courtesy of Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, the room is now much brighter with lighter fabrics and a more fluid seating arrangement due to the removal of the big central banquettes. The triple height ceiling is both its most impressive feature and the most difficult to work with in terms of producing a cosy atmosphere – especially in the height of summer when the sun sets at 10pm. All in all, it’s still a lovely space though.

Eat This

Twenty8 NoMad has taken the menu in a more New York-style direction, which we’re seeing a lot of in London at the moment (see also: One Club Row, The Dover and 74 Duke Street).

Menu highlights for us included the deconstructed prawn cocktail, served as three big prawns with separate dips and salt for you to combine however you like; the mussels served with a bright, zesty green curry sauce and roti breads; and the steak tartare with lavash bread.

From the mains, there was an epic chicken Milanese for two to share, served with the head and feet (if you wish), and with spring leaves and lemon caper vinaigrette as standard. We also enjoyed the steak frites with rich peppercorn sauce and the lobster pasta. Look out for a return of the legendary NoMad chicken stuffed with truffles and foie gras too, the dish that made the original New York restaurant’s name.

For dessert, don’t miss the super fun giant pretzel ice cream and the ice cream sundae menu.

Drink This

There’s a heavy dose of martinis and cocktails to begin with if that’s your vibe, as well as a good selection of fizz and wine by the glass. There’s also a great bottle list, including some standout low-intervention numbers including Jacquère La Pépie 2023 and the Kamptal Kollektiv Red.

Why Go

The food at Twenty8 NoMad was really impressive, with well executed and thoughtful twists on the classics. Given its location in the heart of central London there’s definitely more than enough to recommend a visit, particularly if you’re looking for somewhere fun with family or a group of friends.
