Despite all the redevelopment of the area, Hackney Wick isn’t blessed with many places to do a good grocery shop but husband and wife team Samantha Scott and Jake Costain are changing that with Tuck Shop. Now open on Fish Island after a successful crowdfunding campaign last year, Tuck Shop is a grocer, butcher, bottle shop, refill store, coffee shop and bar all rolled into one, with sustainability at its heart. There are refill stations for household and pantry goods; the meat and dairy products are ethically sourced; and they stock goods from local producers like pastries from Chow, bread from Bakery 4 and coffee from Ozone.

As well as goods to take home and cook, Tuck Shop is also offering natural wines and craft beers to drink in along with nibbles plates featuring cheese from Neal’s Yard and charcuterie from Cobble Lane Cured. And if you get down there on 21st & 22nd August, you can tuck into £5 glasses of wine, £6.50 plates and half price corkage in-store.
