TOM CENCI TO OPEN LOYAL TAVERN IN BERMONDSEY

Fresh off the back of Riding House Cafe having a refurb, Village East in Bermondsey (owned by the same company) is undergoing its own overhaul. It’s turning into the Loyal Tavern and Tom Cenci (ex-Duck & Waffle) is taking over as executive chef.

He’s created a menu that celebrates the best seasonal British produce with dishes including Cornish mackerel with apple, pine nut and truffle; venison tartare with beef dripping; and daily specials like gurnard with crab bisque, carrot and seaweed. And he’s putting cheese toasties on the menu late at night in honour of the new 1.30am closing time.

Antonio Del Monte (previously of The Ned) is heading up the bar, which’ll stock natural, new world and British wines, including wine flights,; a range of beers; and punch bowls on the cocktail list. Sounds like a top neighbourhood spot to us. And if you get down there between 6th – 15th September you can get 50% OFF food at dinner.
