Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover, the founders of art festival Frieze, are getting into the restaurant game and opening Toklas at 180 The Strand (home to the Frieze offices as well as a number of other creative organisations) this summer. As well as the main dining area, Toklas will also be home to a garden terrace extending out onto Surrey Street plus a bakery and food shop. No menu deets have been revealed yet but the focus will be on fresh, simple and unpretentious food with vegetables and fish cooked on a charcoal grill.
And Toklas won’t be the only new spot in the building as Mateo Zielonka is also opening 180 Pasta, a pasta restaurant in collab with The Store, there this year too so it looks like you won’t be going hungry round these parts.
