A dessert shop centred around French toast and ube drinks is landing in Westfield White City this September. The aptly named Toastée is the latest project from the 1996 Group, the people behind modern Filipino restaurant Donia and the cult bakery Panadera.
Co-created by 1996 founder Florence Mae Maglanoc alongside Adrian Kyle Felipe, the specialty dessert spot promises to put a Southeast Asian twist on classic French toast. Slated toppings include ube jam, matcha ganache and milo cookies and cream, as well as a simple butter and maple syrup option for the purists.
Beyond toast, there’ll be house-made ice cream, brownies, and a drinks menu dedicated to Ube. We’re talking Ube Milk, Ube Foam Matcha, Ube Latte and Ube banana to name a few. The purple yam is one of the most hyped flavours of the moment – even Pret has an Ube Brûlée latte – and given the popularity of Panadera, we’re predicting long queues for this one.
