The Standard, London is finally opening in King’s Cross this year, adding to its portfolio of hotels in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. The exciting news on the food front is that 2015 YBF Chef of the Year and former Pachamama head chef Adam Rawson will be the Executive Chef of the ground floor – Peter Sanchez-Iglesias will be taking charge of a restaurant up top.

The 266-bedroom London hotel is the group’s first property outside of the US and Adam’s got two separate spaces planned for the ground floor. Isla will be an all-day restaurant inspired by Britain’s position as an island, so expect seasonal and coastal food with natural wines. Set in the lobby, Isla will also extend out onto the garden terrace, perfect for some al fresco action.

Double Standard is the other space, and this one’s going to be a bit more playful. Decked out with wooden doors, red carpet and white tiled flooring, it’s meant to feel like your local boozer, albeit a little fancier. The standalone bar will serve craft beers, wines and cocktails, whilst the menu will be a cross between pub grub and NYC dive bar food. Quite different but both sound like winners to us.
