THE WORLD’S FIRST VIRTUAL ONLINE MUSEUM OF ART IS COMING

Whilst galleries and museums remain closed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve had to make do with virtual tours of the buildings, and online exhibitions with interactive digital artworks. Now artist Stuart Semple is taking things a step further by building VOMA, the world’s first entirely virtual museum.

Created by a team of CGI artists, developers, artists, architects and curators, VOMA will be a fully realised VR building, with lots of space and light to show off the art. The gallery will exhibit historical pieces on loan from major institutions, works of contemporary art and specially commissioned interactive pieces. The point of VOMA is to make art accessible to everyone, everywhere, so as well as being totally immersive it’ll be free to visit, and the doors will be open long after the pandemic is over.

Check out these virtual museum tours whilst you wait for VOMA to launch.
