love a cunning stunt, especially when it’s food related and has an air of quintessential Englishness about it. Thursday 23rd April, head down to Russell Square, with a parasol, pointed pinkie, and a sweet tooth or two and take an afternoon stroll in the world’s first garden made of cake (tea and croquet not included).

It’s St George’s Day, and the paperback launch of best-selling author Carole Matthews’ new novel The Cake Shop in the Garden. You can get a copy signed by the author herself or bring your own edible creation and receive a free book.

Fruit loaf walls grouted with Nutella, chocolate crumb soil, edible roses and more will be ondisplay and offer for the public to nibble and marvel at. So, if you fancy an afternoon marvelling at a Willy Wonka and Titchmarsh-esque themed creation, with some literature thrown in, you know where to go.
