Napoli on the Road is heading central this autumn
It’s safe to say that Michele Pascarella knows pizza. He was crowned Best Pizza Maker in the World at the 50 Top Pizza Awards in 2023, and his restaurant Napoli on the Road has retained the title of Europe’s Best Pizzeria for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025) at the 50 Top Pizza Europa awards. He’s grown his concept from a three-wheeled Ape Piaggio van to two west London restaurants in Chiswick and Richmond, and now he’s readying his third.
Opening on Wardour Street in the autumn, the Soho outpost of Napoli on the Road will feature chrome pizza ovens and bar counters on the minimalist ground floor, where an a la carte menu will be running. Downstairs in the mustard-coloured basement, Michele will be serving a pizza tasting menu, featuring detailed course explanations and curated wine flights.
We don’t have any other menu details for the Soho site as yet, but we’d expect some similarities with the offering in Chiswick and Richmond, where the pizzas include Diavola (tomato sauce, fior di latte, spicy spianata, basil and extra virgin olive oil), Nerano (fior di latte, courgette cream, courgette chips, provolone, and extra virgin olive oil), and Ricordi D’infanzia (slow-cooked beef ragu, Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, fondue, basil, and extra virgin olive oil).
Speaking about the opening, Michele says: “Soho is full of creativity, culture and open-minded attitudes. We’re so excited to add a new approach to pizza to the tapestry of Wardour Street. Soho was where I first began working in London; returning feels like a homecoming and a dream come true.”
Napoli on the Road Soho is just the latest in a raft of pizzeria openings in town, following news that Crisp Pizza is also moving central, Alley Cats and Slayer pitching up in Notting Hill, and a host of new pizza places in east London.
