The World Chelsea Bun Awards is back this year in honour of World Chelsea Bun Day. The awards were supposed to take place in Duke of York Square but the lockdown has meant it’s now going online. There’ll be three categories that bakers can enter – under 18s, adults and businesses – and you can submit your bakes by posting a photo on Instagram and tagging @world.chelsea.bun.awards or via the website by 5pm on 1st May. It’s free to enter but you’re encouraged to make a donation to The Children’s Surgery Foundation, which supports children undergoing surgery at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.

Michelin starred chef Phil Howard, owner of Partridges John Shepherd and The Children’s Surgery Foundation Chief Executive Hélèna Frost will judge the bakes, with prizes going to the winners of each category. The overall winner will also receive a Merci Maman £100 gift voucher. So if you fancy yourself as the next Mary Berry, get working on those buns.
