The World Chelsea Bun Awards, in honour of World Chelsea Bun Day, are back for the fourth year and this time they’ll be judged by Lady Sophie Windsor, and cake expert Jane Asher. There’ll be three categories that bakers can enter – under 18s, adults or professionals – and you can submit your bakes by posting a photo on Instagram and tagging both @world.chelsea.bun.awards and #worldchelseabunawards, or via the website, by 5pm on 14th May. It’s free to enter but you’re encouraged to make a donation to the award’s chosen charity, The Children’s Surgery Foundation, which supports children undergoing surgery at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.
Alongside this year’s guest judges will be the award’s regular and owner of Partridges John Shepherd, as well as a Chelsea Pensioner. They’ll be choosing the winner of each category based on how appetising the buns look, the originality and creativity of the recipe, and the presentation, they’ll then receive a bespoke Partridges hamper, a certificate, a World Chelsea Bun Awards Winners’ Apron, with the overall winner becoming ‘Supreme Champion Chelsea Bun Baker 2022’.
