HILL | LOSING

After winning her first UK Number One earlier this year thanks to her feature on Gecko (Overdrive), Becky Hill has set her eyes firmly set on success with her new track Losing. The thumping electro mid-tempo track – an ode to never finding the right person to fall for – already feels like one of the year’s most competent debut singles before the moody, anthemic chorus has even had a chance to kick in.

FURS | AN EYE ON THE VICIOUS

We have some home-grown talent on the list this week in the form of FURS. The band’s new song calls to mind the likes of Doves and The Temper Trap and feels like it was torn kicking and screaming from the 500 Days of Summer soundtrack. You can catch the band performing at The Lexington in Islington, if you like what you hear…

KID WAVE | GLOOM

Not living up to its title, Kid Wave’s Gloom – the lead single for the new band’s forthcoming EP – is a wonderfully understated track thanks to its subtly uplifting instrumental and folksy vocals paired with a vibe that manages to feel like the epitome of everything wonderful about Autumn encompassed in a three-and-a-half minute track. Keep an eye on this band, we see a bright future ahead of them.

SALT ASHES | IF YOU LET ME GO

Salt Ashes’ latest track If You Let Me Go – the follow up to the effortlessly brilliant Somebody – sees the singer channelling the likes of 80s Madonna and Kate Bush for song that would be perfectly at home on Gwen Stefani’s classic solo debut, L.A.M.B. It’s a powerful track and arguably our favourite of the week  that proves that pop can be just as emotive as other more respected genres.

BOMBAY BICYLE CLUB | HOME BY NOW

After achieving a Number One album and a Mercury Music Award nomination, Bombay Bicycle has unveiled Home Boy Now, the fifth track taken from their fourth album. The Pete Gabriel-esque track is one of the LP’s best thanks to its bombastic production and moody vocals.
