This September, the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra (UFO) will present an afternoon of music by Ukrainian composers at the Barbican. In 2022, conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson worked with the Metropolitan Opera and Polish National Opera to bring the UFO together. The orchestra is formed of refugees, Ukrainian members of European orchestras and some of Ukraine’s top musicians and is leading the fight to maintain the country’s cultural legacy. The programme at this performance will include the overture to Verdi’s Forza del Destino, Yevhen Stankovych’s Second Violin Concerto, Myroslav Skoryk Melody and Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony.
