THE TIMBER LOFT TO OPEN ABOVE THE LIGHT BAR IN SHOREDITCH

The Light Bar in Shoreditch only opened this spring – back when we could only dine outdoors, remember that? – but it’s already adding something new to the space in the shape of The Timber Loft. The 80-cover modern European restaurant is opening upstairs at the venue, making great use of the room’s original exposed beams and skylights. Tristan Downes (ex-JOY and Brunswick House) is heading up the kitchen and will be cooking dishes like celeriac & winter tomato terrine; squash ravioli with fried sage & chestnut; and confit duck leg with Roscoff onion & red cabbage. He’ll also be serving a special plant-based tasting menu for Vegnauary featuring the likes of Jerusalem artichoke gnocchi with artichoke crisps, roast squash with fregola & porcini, and roasted pear panna cotta with caramel & basil.

If you can’t wait until January to get upstairs, you can try Tristan’s food right now as he’s reworked the menu downstairs in the Engine Hall, adding dishes like fermented sweet potato bread with tapenade & aromatic butter, chicken wings & black garlic chilli sauce, and short rib beef croquettes & truffle mayo to the menu.

Opens January 2022
