Owner Francesca D’Agostino is taking on the site a few doors down from her Hackney deli
Wilton Way Deli & Wines has become a beloved part of its Hackney community; it’s a place where you can stop for a coffee or a glass of wine, get a bite to eat, pick up some shopping, swing by one of its seasonal street parties, and even buy merch to help support Hackney Food Bank. When the corner site on the street became available, Fran says she “felt protective of what we have, so I light-heartedly showed my interest. Months later, after watching so many great operators being interested in the site, thinking someone else would get it, I was surprised that the landlord had decided to give it to me.”
Now she has it, she’s turning it into Fran’s, an all-day caff “inspired by those old Italian ones”, serving British and Italian comfort food, like fry-ups, pie & mash, and meatballs, in a casual and relaxed environment. Local florist Sweet Pea will be opening a pop-up flower shop inside, doing seasonal blooms, custom bouquets, vases and plants, and Fran has kept the downstairs space free to be used for workshops and other events.
Given what she’s been able to do with Wilton Way Deli & Wines, we’re sure Fran’s is also going to be a big hit with the locals.
