The Team Behind The Glory is Opening New LGBTQ+ Venue The Divine

There’s a big silver lining to the closure of iconic queer venue The Glory

Jonny Woo, John Sizzle and Colin Rothbart, owners of beloved East London gay bar The Glory, announced they were closing the doors to the Haggerston pub at the end of last year, but ahead of its final night on 31st January, we’ve got details of the group’s next venture. The Divine, a new 200-capacity bar with a bigger stage and a new light and sound system, is opening just up the road on the former Birthdays and Brewdog site in Dalston.

And you don’t have long to wait for it as The Divine is opening at the beginning of February, just days after The Glory shuts. The programme for the new venue is already packed, with the likes of Yshee Black, Keela Kraving, Rose Feroce, Baby Lame, and Crayola The Queen all appearing in the first month of opening. The legendary LIPSYNC1000 and MAN UP drag contests made famous at The Glory will be making the move up the road too, so we’re sure The Divine is going to be just as raucous and become just as beloved as its predecessor.

Opens Fri 2nd February 2024
33 Stoke Newington Road, London, N16 8BJ
