THE TEAM BEHIND TAKA AND MARU IS OPENING JAPANESE BAKERY HACHI IN NOTTING HILL

Maru Mayfair and Taka Marylebone are two of the best Japanese restaurants in London, so when the team behind them both decides to get into the bakery game, expectations are high. Hachi Bakery, opening in Notting Hill in November, will have Sachie Worrall (ex-Nobu Park Lane) at the helm, who’ll be whipping up sweet and savoury creations that honour traditional Japanese baking methods.

The grab-and-go menu is set to include the likes of:

  • shokupan, classic Japanese milk bread made over two days
  • curry pan, fried bread with a pulled pork & curry filling
  • teriyaki chicken with caramelised onion, teriyaki sauce & mayo
  • matcha choux, a choux au craquelin filled with matcha cream

With Buns From Home choosing the ‘hood for its first site and coffee spot Kuro adding a bakery to its operation (which also has shokupan on the menu), Notting Hill is clearly the place to be for some of the top baked goods in the game – not to mention hot pita spot Miznon is heading for W11 too, so maybe west really is best.

Opens November 2022
11 Blenheim Crescent, London W11 2EE
