The Tallyman will be a “proper East London” pub
The group behind Hammersmith seafood restaurant Faber and King’s Cross boozer The Somers Town Coffee House is adding to its collection, and celebrating its 20th anniversary, by opening The Tallyman in Canary Wharf this autumn.
Named after the tallyman, a figure on the docks who connected workers, ship owners and customs officials, the pub will be opening on Chancellor Passage by the river. We don’t have a menu as yet but The Tallyman is focusing on British ingredients and classic pub dishes, so you can expect pies, shellfish, kebabs, steaks, and fish & chips.
Speaking about the opening, co-founder Anthony Pender said: “Canary Wharf is transforming into a mixed-use and residential neighbourhood, and we felt it deserved a proper community pub at its heart as the area continues to grow and thrive. The name The Tallyman comes from a place of trust and integrity, and that spirit runs through everything we’re creating here – an authentic East End pub inspired by the dockland history, with the warmth, honesty and character you’d expect from great pub hospitality – not just a space for a drink, but a place for all to feel a part of.”
