The Team Behind Julie’s Is Reinventing a Notting Hill Pub

The Prince Edward is getting a revamp

Julie’s is one of the most beloved spots in Notting Hill and this year, the team – owner Tara MacBain, chef patron Owen Kenworthy, and general manager Rupert Walsh – are taking on another West London project. The trio will be reinventing longstanding pub The Prince Edward, which has been a local landmark since the 19th century.

The structure of the historic building won’t be changing too much, with the original architectural features being restored and warm timbers, layered textures and heritage tones being added by designer Rosanna Bossom (who also did the Julie’s interiors). Owen’s menu will feature plenty of pub classics, including bar snacks, seasonal pies, fish & chips, rotisserie and grill dishes, and Sunday roasts. The bar will be well stocked with beers from a selection of independent and heritage breweries, with European wines and classic cocktails also on offer.

Speaking about the pub, Tara MacBain said: “The Prince Edward already has history, character and a loyal local following. Our role is not to reinvent it beyond recognition, but to restore its heart. We want this to be a pub people use constantly – for morning coffee, midweek suppers, Sunday lunch, or a spontaneous glass of wine. Julie’s has always been about warmth, personality and a sense of belonging. With The Prince Edward, we are bringing that same spirit to a true neighbourhood pub”.
