South Londoners James Dye and Stanley Allen, who are behind the likes of Camberwell Arms, Frank’s Cafe, Greensmiths and Peckham Springs, are teaming up to open a grocery store, deli and wine vault Gladwell’s in Camberwell. Taking over a spot inside a Grade II-listed old bank building, Gladwell’s will stock goods from small-scale producers like, Braybrooke, All Greens. Flor, Fosse Meadows, Papos Bagels and Neal’s Yard Dairy. They’ll also be slinging coffee, pastries and sarnies like porchetta ciabatta and spiced aubergine focaccia from the deli, and stocking an extensive range of vino from natty wine importer Wines Under The Bonnet down in the old bank vault.
If you’d rather Gladwell’s came to you, you’re in luck as the team will also be launching a range of grocery boxes for delivery, including a fruit & veg one, a weekly essentials box and one with all the bits you need for Sunday lunch. A fiver from every box sold will be donated to the St Giles Trust Pantry, which will support a family for up to five days with healthy meals, so there’s even more reason to order one.
