The Stage Is Set in Shoreditch This Festive Season

The East London cultural destination is celebrating the festive season with brand new window installation ‘Winter’s Ethereal Glow’

Once home to the Curtain Playhouse, where Shakespeare staged many of his famous plays, The Stage is a landmark mixed-use development in the heart of Shoreditch rooted in both history and the creative arts.

East London’s next cultural destination features luxury apartments, workspaces and a range of leisure experiences, including modern Japanese restaurant Sushi Revolution and the soon-to-open Middle Eastern steakhouse The Black Cow. Now, more than 400 years after the playwright was last here, The Stage is bringing Shakespeare’s world back to life with creative window displays showing scenes from The Winter’s Tale

Created in partnership with Global Street Art, ‘Winter’s Ethereal Glow’ is spread across a number of windows at The Stage, with each window presenting a unique and creative interpretation of themes like change and renewal, and offering an alternative to all the traditional Christmas displays up around town. The installation includes cutouts layered to create shadows and silhouettes in one window; die-cut wooden panels and coloured perspex combining for a stained glass effect in another; and an impactful printed piece, fusing traditional and contemporary art, enveloping a third building to reimagine the story of the play in a bold new way.

You’ll be able to see the installation now and throughout January, ahead of the opening of the immersive Museum of Shakespeare curated by Bompas & Parr later in 2025.
