Ok, ok we maybe bias, it is our local after all but we heart The Shakespeare! Located on Allen Road The Shakespeare looks like it hasn’t seen a paint brush since the 70s which only adds to its charm. There is plenty of wood about, the floor, walls, bar and chairs which give it a proper pub feel. The pub is busy Monday to Sunday, day and night with a mixture of young and old punters, it has a real buzz to it whenever you visit.
They don’t serve food but there is a pizza shop next door which serve stone baked restaurant style pizzas that you can bring into the pub.
With heaps of bikes always parked outside, you can’t miss it. The pub quiz on a Monday is a little too serious for our liking but it’s definitely worth a detour from Church Street….
