THE SEA, THE SEA TO LAUNCH A ZERO-WASTE FISH MARKET

Chelsea-based fishmonger and restaurant The Sea, The Sea went east last summer, taking over the Haggerston spot where board game cafe Draughts used to be. As well as operating as a centre for wholesale and product development, complete with a walk-in dry-aging room, the Hackney branch of The Sea, The Sea also boasts a chef’s table run Leandro Carreira, which serves up a tasting menu with dishes like smoked eel sandwich, squat obster & savoury custard, dry aged turbot with pepper miso and langoustine with wild mushrooms & truffle.

Now the team is expanding the retail offering by launching a zero-waste fish market on Saturdays, offering the public the chance to buy the best produce from day-boat fishermen and regional markets at wholesale prices. And if all that shopping makes you hungry, Carreira will be doing a Saturday lunch service at the chef’s table, with a four-course menu plus snacks coming in at £60.

In the mood for seafood? These are our fave places to get it.
