It’s all going on under the arches in Haggerston – first it was announced that wine club and restaurant Planque was moving in and now Chelsea-based fishmonger and restaurant The Sea, The Sea is also heading east, taking over the spot where board game cafe Draughts used to be. The Sea, The Sea operates as a fishmongers and deli, stocking fresh seafood sourced from around the UK and beyond, and as a seafood bar headed up by Leandro Carreira.
The Haggerston site will run as a centre for wholesale and product development, complete with a walk-in dry-aging room and a focus on line-caught day-boat fish and live shellfish. Come September, it’ll host an immersive dining counter run by Carreira – his Chelsea menu includes dishes like dressed crab with crispy braised kombu, steamed prawns with lemon & almond aoili and cured mackerel with tomato pine infusion, so we’d be expecting similar vibes for the new spot.
In the mood for seafood? These are our fave places to get it.
