THE SAATCHI GALLERY WILL HOST THE UK’S MOST COMPREHENSIVE STREET ART EXHIBITION

This February, the Saatchi Gallery will present BEYOND THE STREETS LONDON, an immense exhibition that’ll take over the entire 70,000 sqft space – the first time in eight years that a show has done so. Featuring work from over 150 artists, including some big names, the exhibition will showcase a collection of original pieces, rare ephemera, photography, immersive and site-specific installations and archival fashion, with some surprises thrown in there too.

Curated by noted graffiti historian Roger Gastman, BEYOND THE STREETS has already had successful runs in Los Angeles and New York before it was announced that London was its next destination. London, and the UK as a whole, has played a substantial role in revolutionising graffiti and street art, something that Gastman and co-curators are paying homage to with this latest edition of the exhibition.

BEYOND THE STREETS LONDON will celebrate the core ethos of street art, the literal and metaphorical mark it makes and the ways in which it challenges authority. From train writers to large-scale muralists, the artists on the line-up will include the likes of Charlie Ahearn, GOLDIE, Guerrilla Girls, Jenny Holzer, Martha Cooper, Todd James, Paul Insect, Kenny Scharf, Dash Snow and Keith Haring. In preserving the art form, which is temporary by nature, BEYOND THE STREETS demonstrates the enduring impact of its rebellious spirit.
