The River Café Is About to Launch a Second Site

This is big

The River Café is one of London’s most celebrated restaurants, known for its impeccable Italian food, international glitterati clientele and exclusivity – it can be tough to get a table. The restaurant was opened by chef-owner Ruth Rogers in 1987 and has since become a certified London institution. Now, nearly four decades and countless accolades later, The River Café team is opening a new spot, The River Café Café.

Launching this June just yards away from the OG, The River Café Café will serve up a more casual menu of Italian food by the restaurant’s chefs. In the morning, the breakfast offering will comprise River Café brioche and cakes, melon and peaches, while plates of prosciutto and mozzarella, alongside seasonal vegetables, will be available throughout the day. We can also expect to see ice cream coupes specials and desserts, as well as a selection of pastries, ice creams, Italian hot chocolate, teas and coffees available to take away. At aperitivo time, cocktails (non-alcoholic options too) and wines by the glass will be served with homemade crisps and Italian olives.

It’s no secret that dining at The River Café can set you back quite a bit, and while we don’t yet have an idea of the pricing at the Café’s café, it does sound like the team is offering a more accessible alternative for all of us fans who can’t quite shell out upwards of £100 per head. All will be revealed on Thurs 13th June.
