THE PRINTWORKS TEAM ARE OPENING NEW VENUE THE BEAMS

Not content with turning a disused section of Silvertown Quays into new open-air venue Dockyards this year, the Printworks team are opening another new space, also out east in Royal Docks, this autumn as well. The Beams, taking over the old Tate & Lyle factory, will be spread across 55,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor space, with the industrial buildings boasting lots of natural light in the daytime and top-notch production come nighttime.

Broadwick Live, the biz behind Printworks, and LWE, who run the likes of Junction 2 festival, are teaming up for the music programme, which is set to include 12 shows over 12 Saturdays from October to December. The first batch of announced shows include Michael Bibi and special guests; Patrick Topping b2b Denis Sulta; Honey Dijon and Pxssy Palace; Stephan Bodzin, Kölsch, KAS:ST and more; and FAC 51 The Hacienda with the likes of 808 State, Marshall Jefferson and The Orb. And now we’ve got the second lot of nights and they include Maceo Plex with Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Francesca Lombardo and Denis Horvat; Junction 2 with Adam Beyer and Richie Hawtin; Jamie Jones; ABODE with Richy Ahmed and Andrea Oliva; Skream; and MK with special guests.

When the music is turned off, The Beams will act as a space for film production, photo shoots, exhibitions, fashion shows and other events ensuring that the venue doesn’t sit empty. Clearly the docks are the place to be in 2022.
