A South London fave, The Prince of Peckham is getting bigger with a new pub opening in Tulse Hill this spring
Last summer, The Prince of Peckham’s owner Clement Ogbonnaya announced his new pub group, the Village People, along with his plans to open five new pubs throughout the city over the next five years. We also heard that the first of those would be the Queen of the South in Tulse Hill, which is set to open this spring.
Part of the Village People’s mission will be to renovate old and disused pubs, turning them back into community hubs, and that’s exactly what they’ve done with the Queen of the South. Formerly The White Hart, the pub had been shuttered for seven years before Ogbonnaya and team set out to transform it into a space that’ll host co-working, live music, DJs and a music studio.
Although we don’t have an official opening date for the Queen of the South just yet, we know we can expect food from White Men Can’t Jerk (who were also in the kitchen at The Prince), signature cocktails like ‘The Queen’ (a combination of Market Row rum and Aluna rum), a range of local craft beers and for it to be pretty popular – if the crowds at The Prince are anything to go by.
