THE PERRY HILL PUB TO OPEN

South London boozer the Perry Hill Pub (between Catford and Sydenham FYI) has been closed for almost two years and now after a makeover, it’s getting ready to reopen its doors and show off its new look. Husband and wife team Phil Sutton and Oonagh McCormack are now running the pub and have renovated the saloon bar, lounge and large outside space. They’ve also brought in Jamie Younger (who used to run Palmerston in East Dulwich) to oversee the kitchen who, along with head chef Eric Grapt (formerly of The Wolseley and The Hurlingham Club), has created a menu featuring dishes like beef shin croquettes with horseradish, hake with asparagus & hollandaise, shredded pig’s shoulder, and smoked celeriac steak, making full use of the on-site smokehouse. Lunchtime snacks and a Sunday roast are also in the works for when indoor dining is allowed.

There’ll be a varied beer selection on the bar, including rotating specials, along with craft perries and wine, with a separate list of takeaway bottles. The pub is opening for outdoor drinking and dining first and with a capacity of over 250 in the beer garden, it’s gonna be one of the biggest in the area.
